After injury, muscle healing occurs in different phases, including:
- degeneration and inflammation,
- muscle regeneration, and
- the development of fibrosis.
The enhancement of muscle regeneration and prevention of muscle fibrosis can improve muscle healing.
The severity and type of muscle injury influence the healing process.*
