Inflammation and regeneration in muscle repair mechanism

After injury, muscle healing occurs in different phases, including:

  • degeneration and inflammation,
  • muscle regeneration, and
  • the development of fibrosis.
The enhancement of muscle regeneration and prevention of muscle fibrosis can improve muscle healing.
The severity and type of muscle injury influence the healing process.*
